WHAT IS BREATHWORK?
Rebirthing Breathwork  Rebirthing Breathwork  Rebirthing Breathwork  Rebirthing Breathwork  Rebirthing Breathwork  Rebirthing Breathwork  Rebirthing Breathwork
The breathwork process releases the emotional, negative charge out of cell memory. The process causes integration of unresolved emotional, physical, mental and spiritual energies.  The primary result is an experience of clarity at a very core level.  The process empowers a person into choice and out of victimhood.

By learning to use breathing as a highly transformational tool (conscious connected circular breathing), you will learn how to free your physical and emotional body from energetic blockages resulting from traumatic or supressed experience. Regular practice will energize you, enhance your wellbeing, your prosperity and support the growth of spiritual awareness.  Rebirthing Breathwork

Breathwork is an action that inspires your full potential for joy, aliveness and peace in your life. Rebirthing Breathwork

Breathwork or Rebirthing`s predominant characteristic is simplicity Rebirthing starts with lying down, relaxing and breathing .Long and careful attention to the relaxed breath will reveal a many layered pattern of inhibitions and exposes our unconscious patterns of defense against pleasure and aliveness. When these are noticed (no longer unconscious) we can neutralize and integrate these patterns of past-time tension by breathing through them with present awareness of safety. It offers a gentle effective way to reveal the latent pristine state of body and consciousness which we all experienced in the pre-natal time and which was pushed back by the shocks of birth and early relationship. Our relationships can be clear and complete only when we dissolve our resistance to having that ideal condition. Unconscious birth memories bar the way as a closed portal on the path back to bliss. Breathwork will help you find the key to unlock that door.

REBIRTHING - BREATHWORK

The Birth Experience  Rebirthing Breathwork

How the birth trauma affects our lives.  Rebirthing Breathwork

- Do you feel there is a power outside of you that directs your life?

- Do you feel that your life is passing you by?

- Do you seem never to be able to complete things?

- Do you find it difficult to surrender to love?

- Do you feel that life is an endless struggle for survival?

- Do your relationships with others leave you feeling confused?

- Are you addicted in any way? Rebirthing Breathwork

- Do you find it difficult to adjust to change?

- Do you feel vulnerable under certain circumstances?

- Is the feeling of responsibility sometimes overwhelming?

Do you expect others to help you solve your issues?

If we were to describe one by one all the cases that account for the way we were born, the list would be too long.

The birth experience is a miraculous process. Birth is the miracle of life itself; the proof that the universe is the source of all there is; the hymn of evolution and the fusion of all in one and the transition and transformation of energy into matter.

PRE-VERBAL EXPERIENCE Rebirthing Breathwork

What does really happen when a soul decides to be born?

From the moment of conception the embryo records every feeling, sensation and experience of the mother. The umbilical cord is not the only bond that ties it to its mother. The embryo records every sensation, every feeling of the parents and their experiences from their environment. In order for an embryo to survive, LOVE is more important than nourishment.

PRENATAL BLISS Rebirthing Breathwork

As the embryo develops, it feels the absolute safety and warmth of the perfect and dreamy environment of the womb. The high temperature, the nourishment and most of all the love of the mother, make it feel protected while at the same time they mold the necessary circumstances for its development. Life inside the womb feels like a blessing. From the moment the embryo experiences the love and the acceptance of its parents, the completion of its development inside the womb begins.

NO EXIT TERROR  Rebirthing Breathwork

During the first stages of its development, the environment of the womb is absolutely friendly and welcoming. As the embryo grows, this environment becomes more and more cramped. The embryo starts to have difficulties in moving and the walls of the uterus are closing in on it.  The warm and loving environment becomes unfriendly, hostile and suffocating causing an imperative need for the embryo to seek the first available way out through the birth canal.

BIRTH Rebirthing Breathwork

From a warm environment of 39 degrees Celsius inside the womb, the baby finds itself in usually air conditioned surroundings (depending on the season and weather conditions), very different from the warmth it has been experiencing for 9 consecutive months inside the safe environment of its mother΄s womb. From total darkness, it comes into the bright, cold lights of an operating room. Occasionally, the baby is violently drawn out of the womb with the use of tongs, forceps or other surgical tools. It may also be under the effect of anesthesia, of epidural spine injection, or other forms of treatment, usually used during birth. The umbilical cord is cut off almost immediately. Trying to take its first breath, it may be turned upside town, be hanged from its legs and get smacked - just so that this first breath is "enabled".

THE BIRTH EXPERIENCE Rebirthing Breathwork

To understand how an embryo experiences the transition from the womb to the "new" world, imagine that outside it is snowing while you΄re indoors sleeping in the warmth of your home. It is late at night and you are enjoying the coziness of your comfortable bed. You are already asleep, when suddenly somebody pulls the covers, picks you up and drags you out, throws you into the snow and as you stand there naked, turns on to your face huge spotlights…

The birth process is a terrible shock for every baby. The transition from one temperature to the next, from the tropical heat to a frozen environment is already a great shock. Then, come the spotlights, which turn total darkness to blinding light. The sudden snip of the umbilical cord causes panic and confusion. All of a sudden, the baby can no longer breathe! Moreover, it is being picked up, turned upside down and  held by the ankles (imagine your entire weight being supported by your ankles), it is slapped in the butt so that it learns how to breathe through crying…

Anesthesia / epidural spine injection, as well as any other substance, poisons the pure system of the newborn baby.

Tongs and forceps cause unbearable pain in its body. To get an idea of the pain, the forceps on the head of a baby bears the same pressure as the pincers in the hands of a dentist who is trying to remove a tooth. As you can understand, the consequences do not stop with the experiences recorded in the physical body.

THE RECORDING OF THE EXPERIENCE Rebirthing Breathwork

The body records the entire painful experience of birth. The physical pain is stored and at times it shows up or it may be constant, with periods of great outburst. Some of the consequences from the use of forceps, for example, are cranial malformation and headaches at a later stage. The birth experience is not recorded just in the body; an endless series of thoughts, feelings and sensations have already been registered as the prime experiences of our life. What will be our impression of the new world in which we just arrived, when the first signs are associated with pain?

The birth experience is so painful that we suppress in from our conscious mind. It cannot however be erased, nor does it change the way we perceive life, love and reality. As for the patterns we develop and apply in our life, according to our own birth experience, they too are of an unconscious nature. Everything that concerns us is imprinted in our subconscious mind: our views about ourselves, love, relationships, how we deal with each event, how we perceive the entire world.

If all this is registered in our subconscious mind, how can we become aware of their existence?

THE APPLICATION OF THE BIRTH TRAUMA IN EVERYDAY LIFE Rebirthing Breathwork

It is true that all the things we experienced during our birth, as well as before, have been imprinted in the "back" of our minds and direct every single area of our lives. Even if we are unaware that they influence in such a great extent our lives, our reality is there to remind us. Facts speak for themselves when we deal with the same situations over and over again, when there is no progress, when we face resistance and lack of flow; when there are certain situations that infuriate us, when some people make us feel uncomfortable and weird, and when all is perfect but something unexpected turns everything upside down. It is then that these patterns have been activated. Our reactions vary accordingly. The way we fall in love over and over with the same type of man or woman is not accidental. Our relationships that are characterized by the same quality, the repetitive events, our weight, our health, even our financial situation are part of the way we perceived our self into this world. The way it is all intertwined is overwhelming. Already from the moment of our conception, we start to evaluate ourselves, according to all the feelings and stimuli that our mother communicates.

The moment of birth is our "landmark" upon our arrival to this "new" world. It is exactly at that moment that we mould our beliefs, our values and our rationale for the world we come into. The way we are born determines these patterns of perception.

DIFFERENT TYPES OF BIRTH Rebirthing Breathwork

The ways we come into this world vary: normal birth, caesarian, dry birth, epidural spine injection, anesthesia, premature or late birth, complications with the umbilical cord, twins, test tube baby, water labor, in vitro fertilization - there are many different kinds of birth. Each one is a unique experience to the baby and therefore creates a different perception about this new environment in which the baby comes. This is the reason why we all develop different beliefs about ourselves and about our life. Below are some indicative birth examples:

CAESARIAN Rebirthing Breathwork

In Caesarian birth, the newborn is surgically removed from the mother΄s womb. Since this method has inherent differences from vaginal birth, the conclusions about life made by people born by Caesarian section are often quite different from those made by people born vaginally.

The primary difference between a Caesarian birth and a vaginal birth is that in the Caesarian birth the transition from life in the womb to life as we experience it now is much quicker. People born by Caesarian often have difficulty with processes that are gradual in nature, and with completion of projects in general. Since they were rescued from the womb, they sometimes expect to be rescued from difficult situations and do not take even the most basic actions to solve their own problems. They also often have a pronounced fear of abandonment.

ANESTHESIA Rebirthing Breathwork

Heavy use of alcohol: This is an attempt to suppress fear by recreating the deadness, numbness and disorientation of the anesthesia that got the person through the fearful experience of birth.

Excessive coffee drinking: This is the result of the desire to function effectively in the world, despite the deadening effect of suppressed anesthesia.

Fear of heights and fear of falling: This is usually the memory of the uncontrollable "fall" back into the body as the effect of anesthesia wore off.

DRY BIRTH Rebirthing Breathwork

"Dry" birth means that the uterine sac containing the amniotic fluid breaks, releasing the amniotic fluid long enough before birth, so that the amniotic fluid does not ease the passage of the newborn through the birth canal. Despite the residual lubrication provided by the vernix caseosa, the journey through the birth canal is more of a struggle than the journey would have been with the additional lubrication of the amniotic fluid. People born of a dry birth frequently conclude that struggle is either essential to survival or fundamental to existence, and sometimes struggle with situations in their lives far more than other people do.

PREMATURE BIRTH Rebirthing Breathwork

Premature birth means that the newborn was born long enough before full term of pregnancy to require incubation. The suppressed conclusions from a premature birth vary greatly from person to person and often depend on the cause of the prematurity. In some cases the newborn sensed that the mother did not enjoy being pregnant and cooperated in the mother΄s desire to end the pregnancy as soon as possible. The mother΄s dislike of the pregnancy could have been caused by any number of factors ranging from sickness during pregnancy, conception out of wedlock, and abandonment by the father or not consciously wanting the child in the first place. People born of premature birth frequently have a greater degree of difficulty with time. This can manifest as compulsive lateness, fear of being late or constantly creating lateness in others.

BREECH BIRTH Rebirthing Breathwork

Breech birth means a vaginal delivery other than head first. This type of delivery is usually difficult for the mother. Her body was designed for head first delivery and a breech birth is out of harmony with this basic design. People who were breech births frequently have a fear of hurting others and / or a pattern of compulsively behaving in a manner they think is wrong or different.

TWINS Rebirthing Breathwork

The effect of being a twin depends on whether one was the first or second to come out of the birth canal. Typically, the first one feels guilty about leaving its sibling and constant companion of nine months and the second one feels betrayed and angry about being left.

LABOR IN THE WATER Rebirthing Breathwork

Labor in the water is done in a natural way. The mother, instead of lying down, sits on her own feet and  touches first the newborn when the head emerges. It comes into an environment similar to that inside the womb. The umbilical cord is cut only after the baby has started breathing normally and remains in close contact with the mother. Children born this way rarely get sick and their stamina is exceptionally strong. The lack of birth trauma reflects in their life. They excel in whatever they do and are active and energetic.

CONCLUSIONS Rebirthing Breathwork

All the above are, of course, not a rule as to the different types of birth. Each person is unique. The above examples have been recorded after years of research on people who have engaged and experienced the Breathwork / Rebirthing technique. What matters most is not the way we were born, but our presumptions from our birth, the taste and sensation of the entire experience. Rebirthing works on this data.

REBIRTHING - BREATHWORK Rebirthing Breathwork

Its founder, Leonard Orr, named the technique Rebirthing in the beginning of 1970. While taking a long, warm bath, he started having flashbacks from the time he was an embryo. The imperative need to immediately get out of the water, along with a suffocating sensation, was the signal for further experimentations, which started in warm water and resembled the natal state. This is the reason why Leonard Orr named this technique Rebirthing. Later, the term Breathwork was added, as in essence it is a technique based on breath. Most recently there has been added the name Conscious Breathing. The changes in the name aim at making this technique understood better.

The technique, supported by breath, connects us to the main strength inside us, which is life. All the records that need to be processed, surface and what follows is an immediate realization of the issues that take us backwards instead of forward. All these issues are released through breathing. The pattern of breathing is the natural breath (something we tend to forget in the hustle and bustle of everyday life) and which manifests more clearly at night, when we are fast asleep.

Deep inhalations and relaxed exhalations form the "Alpha" brain waves. In other words, during that time we process what our subconscious mind needs to release and at the same time we receive useful information about ourselves from the super conscious mind. Usually we remember very little in the morning and nothing is really perceived since it is not assimilated in a conscious manner.

The Rebirthing technique functions in the same way. The only difference is that we are fully aware and conscious as our subconscious mind is processing the issues that trouble us. Rebirthing is the process of realizing our True Self and a tool to release our true nature, clearing every illusion and false image we have unconsciously created about our self and which prevents us from enjoying a full, happy and loving life.

THE BENEFITS OF THE TECHNIQUE Rebirthing Breathwork

There are many reasons, apart from the birth trauma, to use the Rebirthing technique. We can release all the tension caused by everyday stress, our fears, insecurities, etc. which usually occur in the physical as well as the mental, psychic and spiritual level. This is the reason why Breathwork is considered an integrated technique. The below reasons are a few of the most important ones:

BIRTH TRAUMA Rebirthing Breathwork

This is perhaps one of the main reasons to do Rebirthing

SPECIFIC NEGATIVE BELIEFS ABOUT ONE΄S SELF Rebirthing Breathwork

These are negative thoughts we have about our self which, although not real, apply to our everyday life simply because we believe them. For example, the thought "I΄m not good enough" attracts relative situations into our life to support our belief.

PARENTAL DISAPPROVAL SYNDROME Rebirthing Breathwork

These thoughts are associated with our parents΄ disapproval: "If you don΄t behave I will not love you". In these cases, what matters is not the parents΄ intentions, but the way we perceive love: "When I am myself I am not loved". This belief may lead to a false image about one΄s self, which however is appreciated by the parents. Finally, this thought is interpreted as true, and the child later on projects it into his/her relationships, believing that this way he/she will be loved.

DEATH URGE Rebirthing Breathwork

People are born with an urge towards death. Many times we "flirt" with death in an attempt to abandon our physical body and return to the "Source" from where we came or the Creator - however we may call him. This is not done consciously, in reality though we may acknowledge it according to the circumstances in our life as well as our well - being. When electrical appliances break up, when things collapse around us, when our health is not good, then most likely the unconscious death urge is on.

PAST LIVES Rebirthing Breathwork

The main reason why such an issue may come up in a session is to be released and stop perpetuating from one life to the next. The purpose is to understand and revaluate the patterns, which we may be following in this life, or to obtain a better understanding about the people who play a significant role in our life.

CONCLUSION Rebirthing Breathwork

None of the above is a rule. The research and recordings, for over 30 years now, are based on the experience of people who agreed to experiment and accepted the benefits of this technique. The Rebirthing technique is considered integrated because it applies to all the aspects of our self and is absolutely safe, because the issues that surface indicate that we are ready each time to acknowledge them.

We need to understand that everything begins with a thought and that our thoughts define our reality. If we are not pleased with our reality, we can definitely change it by changing the way we think. Rebirthing or Breathwork helps us face the world and our self through a different perspective.

Since 1974 there are Rebirthing schools in many countries all over the world and the training standards are set by the International Breathwork Foundation, an International Foundation for the practitioners of Conscious Breathing.

In Greece, the first training was organized in 2005 in Mykonos with participants from Greece, Wales, Australia and Singapore. At the moment, there are seven trained and certified Rebirthers in Greece, under the instructions of the founder of this technique, Leonard Orr.Rebirthing Breathwork

One of the greatest benefits of Rebirthing Breathwork is to contribute to a more harmonious, healthier and happier coexistence on this planet, by first releasing our own self from our traumas, thereby forming the appropriate circumstances for joy, love and abundance for every single being.
